The team of researchers and graduate students at Arizona State University bring rich experience from their backgrounds in biochemistry, biophysics, and physical chemistry.  Analysis of data in the biochemical and biological sciences has entered a new era in recent years.  The holy grail, that many believed would never be achieved 30 years ago, of predicting protein structure from primary sequence has been demonstrated and is now widely used. 

Predicting protein structures requires significant compute resources. When compute demands stretched the capabilities of their on-premises capabilities, they sought a solution from Cr8dl that could support their complex and custom solution in a way that is simple, scalable, and allowed them to focus on what they do best computational biology research.

To save critical time and increase their productivity, ASU adopted the Cr8dl built for purpose cloud platform.  The platform enabled ASU to seamlessly utilize the award-winning Alphafold2 from deep mind to predict the protein structure of an amino acid sequence, and then visualize and analyze the results.

Through Cr8dl, the team was able to access pre-installed software and the entire Alphafold2 database which is a staggering 23 terabytes of contents. A built for purpose solution utilized a best-fit latest generation GPU hardware solution that expedited protein structure creation from 2 days down to 3.5 hours.
